Day 3 - LWAS Running Challenge
5:15 am - CycleBar Classic
- 45 minutes
- 13 Miles
- (I literally woke up for this class 15 minutes before, almost missed it, glad I went, felt REALLY tired during the class)
No run today.
Notes: I have never sweat so much in my life. The past two days have been amazing. I absolutely LOVE waking up and sweating it out for 45 minutes and then sweating it out for another hour at the end of the day. I don't ever want to break from this routine...however, it is still early.
I have decided I want to replicate Jesse and David's 40-mile-run every 4 hours for 48 hours next weekend November 16-17. Only I am going to modify mine a bit and try to just do 2 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. That seems a lot more achievable while still being incredibly difficult. I'll also have Etta with me for a few of these runs which will make things challenging, but that's the whole point, right?

Day 2 - LWAS Running Challenge
5:15 am - CycleBar Classic
- 45 minutes
- 14 Miles
5:30 pm - Run
- 30:34 time
- 2.03 miles
- Splits
- Mile 1 - 14'51"
- Mile 2 - 15'05"
Notes: Real talk time. In the book, these dudes ran 12 miles on day two. There is no way I can do that. I mean, I think I could but I get terrible tendonitis and need to work up to runs like that. Probably next week. I know this makes me sound like a wuss, but I'm going from not running basically at all to running fairly long distances. I'm pushing myself as hard as I can, but also trying not to be reckless.
My run tonight started ambitious. It was about 40 degrees F and I had my 18-month-old Etta with me. I bundled her up but couldn't find her gloves. We headed out anyway and about a mile in her hands looked a bit rosy. I think she was probably all right, but I got nervous and headed back. So not a great run, and I walked probably 2/3 of it. Oh well, tomorrow is a new day.

Day 1 - LWAS Running Challenge
7 am - CycleBar Classic
- 45 minutes
- 14 Miles
7 pm - Run - Temp:
- 1:22:03 time
- 6.44 miles
- Splits
- Mile 1 - 10'41"
- Mile 2 - 11'26"
- Mile 3 - 11'49"
- Mile 4 - 14'28" (I walked the first quarter-mile)
- Mile 5 - 12'58"
- Mile 6 - 13'27"
Notes: My eating habits. They are terrible. I eat too much and too often. I'm like a garbage disposal that doesn't have an off switch. And I am not being cruel or practicing self-hate, it's true and the truth sucks. I started off the day great, just a banana on my way out the door some coffee and water. but as the day grew longer so did my bad habit. by lunchtime, I was shoveling Christmas tree-shaped Reeces cups down my throat and spoiling my lunch. Oh well. Tomorrow we start again.
I got a new pair of shoes a couple of hours before my run, the Hoka One One Men's Bondi 6. They are life-changing. I honestly don't think I could have done this run without them.

The 'Living with a Seal' Running Challenge
This weekend I read Jesse Itzler's 'Living with a Seal', in which he proceeds to invite David Goggins, a career Navy Seal to live and train with him for an entire month. I devoured the whole book. It was like watching the best movie I have ever seen. Every page was inspiring and mind-blowing, and it really struck a chord for me. I've been pretty out of shape ever since I got married 8 years ago. Once We said I do, I started packing on the pounds more and more. Now, I am 29 and weigh in around 282. That's a lot. Luckily I am 6'4" so I hide it well, but still. I have been noticing, I have been having more joint pain, my knees hurt, my ankles hurt after long runs. I just feel all-around terrible. So when I first heard about this book, I was extremely interested. What I need is a change and a big one. I finished the book last night at midnight, and I decided right then and there that I was going to do something about this whole weight issue. I want to learn how to control my mind, and take matters into my own hands.
The other reason I am doing this is that my best friend is getting married in a month, and I currently do not fit into these tiny euro-cut dress pants, GAME ON!
So what am I going to do? I am going to try to at least run/walk the same amount of miles they do in the book every day. I am super out of shape so I am not going to push it too hard, but I want to be uncomfortable. I will also try to replicate some of the exercises and then sub workouts out for sessions at my local CycleBar.
Start Weight 282 Lbs. 11/4/2019
Goal Weight 250 Lbs 12/7/2019
Here we go.
